Ravensblood–I have always been intrigued by dark heroes and stories where the protagonist faces impossible choices with no clear ‘right’ answer.

Werewolves and Gaslight Mysteries–

I love the Victorian era but get frustrated with books that show all the balls and glamor without addressing the dark underbelly of poverty that supported the excesses of the upper class.

I see a lot of parallels between the Victorian era and some of the issues of today.

Also, I love wolves and hate werewolf tales where the human changes into some half-wolf monster. I wanted werewolves that take the form of an actual wolf, only with the human intelligence and character.

Basically, I wrote the books I wanted to read.
